Buss fra Grunerløkka, Olav Ryes plass settes opp kl. 18.30 med retur kl. 24.
Evt går buss/tog ca. hvert kvarter fra Oslo S - Lillestrøm.

Hvilke planer har politikerne og kommuneadministrasjonen for byen Lillestrøm? Hva ønsker næringssiden, representert med Lillestrømbanken eiendom? Og ikke minst; hvilke råd vil byplanrådgiver og arkitekt Peter Butenschøn komme med? Med utgangspunkt i tre ulike innlegg fra tre ulike ståsted, vil vi se på visjoner for byen Lillestrøm.

Plopp vs Politikk

Tema: Kunst i offentlig rom.
Norge har et statlig fagorgan for kunst i offentlig rom, mens New York har vært dominert av to ulike non-profits, Creative Time og Public Art Fund. De to organisasjonene har tradisjonelt sett representert to ulike syn på hva kunst i offentlig rom kan være, men innskrenkningene av det offentlige rom i USA har ført til at mange prosjekter blir tilsynelatende like. Seminaret introduserer kort begge institusjonene, blant annet Public Art Funds begrep om Ploppkunst, og drøfter dette opp mot det norske systemet og tankesettet omkring kunst i offentlig rom, spesielt med tanke på at Kunst i Offentlig Rom (KORO) og Kulturrådet tilsynelatende innehar mer eller mindre likt terreng når det gjelder temporære prosjekter i uterom.

Byvandring
Bli kjent med byen Lillestrøm og hva slags kunst som preger byen. Vi stopper blant annet innom Lillestrøm kirke som har noen fantastiske malerier av Henrik Sørensen, vi ser på veggmaleriet “LSK i våre hjerter” og flere andre utendørsverk. Varighet ca 1 time.
Oppmøte ved Akershus Kunstsenter kl. 17.00.

2010 Lillestrøm
Lillestrøm is a small city located 10 minutes east of Oslo, celebrating an unofficial 150th anniversary in 2010. The city has changed immensely from being a city of saw mills during the second wave of the industrial revolution to a city of commuters, enjoying idyllic gardens and a close proximity to Oslo. When I grew up in Lillestrøm, during the 80s and early 90s, the expectations for Lillestrøm’s future were great, and the increasing attention to the impending new millennium was not hindered by the fact that Lillestrøm’s zip code was 2000, like a spell for a prosperous future. Lillestrøm became a city in 1998 and has managed to profile itself as a city for knowledge, by adding Akershus University College, and for culture with the upcoming sculpture park, lining the river of Nitelva.
In 2010 the city is still struggling to find its identity beyond Flisbyen, sawdust city, a reference to the long gone history of mills and timber. The city has expanded, experiencing a growth similar to other suburban areas in Norway, but also in the rest of Europe. The desire to be a city that can attract visitors and residents is felt in the local municipality, but also in local businesses, who have long-term investments in Lillestrøm.
The exhibition at Akershus Art Center and in Lillestrøm will touch upon a number of these subjects. The most visible part of the exhibition is presented by city hall, close to the location of the upcoming sculpture park. Three works of art deal with the complexities of public art. Who is it for, who made it, how is art supposed to look like, who paid for it, and so on. The three projects will be temporary and range in materials, references and ‘functionality,’ referencing horror movies, a Swiss poet and construction sites.
The exhibition at the Art Center will primarily deal with the façades of the city, not just Lillestrøm, but similar situations found in Berlin, Rio de Janeiro, Drøbak, and Svolvær. Architecture and city planning are addressed, and the artists offer us possibilities of how to make sense of a heterogeneous entity as city, and also the façades we erect to protect and present ourselves in the city and in life.
The third part of the exhibition will take the form of public programming, seminars, architectural and art walks through Lillestrøm and a collation of the debate surround Lillestrøm’s trajectory as a city and a place to live.
